The Automatic Coefficient of Friction Tester, developed in collaboration with Akvemtek and IDM, is designed to measure the coefficient of friction of materials with high precision. The device is equipped with a horizontal table with dimensions of 200 mm x 500 mm and a fixed clamp that prevents the sample from slipping. The sliding part is manufactured with dimensions of 60 mm x 60 mm and an accuracy of ±0.1 mm, and its weight is 800 g ±5 g.
Akvemtek IDM Automatic Coefficient of Friction Tester load cell has a capacity of 5 lb ( 2.5 kg) and provides precise movement thanks to the driving mechanism controlled by a closed loop servo motor. In addition, there is an adjustable pause time after the sled is placed. The coefficient of friction can be monitored with a real-time graph, so that the test results can be displayed and analyzed instantly.
The Automatic Coefficient of Friction Tester can measure Static COF. It does this from a resting position and continues to move the test surfaces in relative motion. As a result, it gives an accurate kinetic COF result.

The Automatic Coefficient of Friction Tester uses a moving sled with a fixed table. The table has a clamping system that prevents the test piece from slipping during the test. The sled is lowered onto the table by means of an elevator system. This positions the sled so that both test surfaces meet at the same time. This eliminates any operator error that could affect the test results.
